Services

NEIRTEC services focus on helping educational leaders at the state, district, and school levels address the many challenges involved in putting technology to effective use, with a particular emphasis on the needs of schools in underserved urban and rural communities. As a regional technical assistance provider with a broad mission, a multi-entity service area, and limited resources, NEIRTEC staff strategize with state and local technology contacts to ensure that services provided to each state and local education agency are targeted to specific goals. Based on this input, NEIRTEC continually refines existing activities and programs and develops new services that align with national, state, and local goals.

Supporting state and local education agencies during the implementation of the No Child Left Behind legislation.
Working with states to develop technology tools and policies, such as the development of evaluation planning strategies.
Helping states share information and resources across borders.
Providing logistical support for networking the region's state education technology coordinators.
Helping districts strengthen the efforts of educational leaders to implement the full set of enabling conditions required for effective technology use.
Helping districts enhance the use and knowledge of how exemplary practices for educational technologies can improve classroom teaching and learning.
Helping districts design and implement effective professional development programs for the classroom integration of technology.
Helping districts measure the impact of technology on teaching and learning.
Helping local educators design and conduct evaluations of local programs or intiatives.

Eligible districts must serve a high percentage of disadvantaged students, support programs that model promising practices, and secure strong commitments from participating teachers as well as district and school leaders. The districts are selected through an application process. It is our goal to ensure that selected districts accurately represent the different areas and types of districts in the NEIRTEC region, with an emphasis on districts in under-served areas.
