Seattle Combines Funding Ingredients through Its Federal Demonstration Program
This article was published in the July 11, 2005 issue of "The Education Innovator", produced by ED's Office of Innovation and Improvement. The article features Seattle Public School's Local Flex plan. The flexibility provided by the demonstration program has allowed Seattle to integrate funds to better align its resources with its priorities and reform strategies, and to maintain a stable program regardless of changes in the district's senior leadership and school board composition.

This information should be helpful to districts trying to separate "myth from reality" in considering whether or not to apply for "Local-Flex authority" under this program.
