Ms. Goetz has been employed by the Seattle Public Schools for 25 years. During this time she has been a teacher, professional developer and central office administrator. Ms. Goetz was a primary (K-3) teacher in Seattle for 20 years prior to her move to the Central Office in 1999. Ms. Goetz has spoken at National conferences including the National Conference of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Staff Development Council, AERA, the National Network for Educational Renewal and ASCD National Conferences. Presentations have included topics in mathematics teaching and assessment, new teacher induction, teacher evaluation, teaching standards, evaluating professional development, and partnerships between schools and universities in the preparation of teachers who are prepared to teach in urban settings. In 1998 Ms. Goetz was the recipient of the Presidential Award for Mathematics and Science Teaching. She has written performance assessments for elementary mathematics and was the primary author of Seattle's Professional Practice Standards. Ms. Goetz is currently the Director of Instructional Services, which includes the offices of curriculum, professional development and new teacher induction in Seattle Public Schools.
