Using Local-Flex or State-Flex to Improve Academic Achievement and Support Student Success.

This website is a collaborative effort between the US Department of Education and The Northeast and Islands Regional Technology in Education Consortium (NEIRTEC) and its partners.

The site has four main purposes:

  1. To guide you to information and resources about two federal flexibility demonstration programs, State-Flex and Local-Flex, authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), reauthorized in 2001, as the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLBA),

  2. To advise you of upcoming virtual and face-to-face awareness events that will help you become better informed about the programs so that you can help your state or district determine its interest and readiness in applying for a program,

  3. To solicit your input on reasons why states and districts may be interested in this program and what states and districts view as barriers and challenges to applying,

  4. To provide information and perspectives on how Local-Flex can be used to further a district's goals based on the actual implementation of one Local-Flex project.

The resources and tools provided on this website are brought to you by The Northeast and the Islands Regional Technology in Education Consortium (NEIRTEC) and its partners in collaboration with the US Department of Education. For more information, contact jnesbit@wested.org.
